Support our Local Politicians

Don't vote for a state govenor that doesn't have the need's of the Queen City in the forefront of their agenda.

If our local Pol's are angry and see the injustice then we the voters and the commuters need to get angry and show our frustration any way possible - flooding the roadways with 485sucks bumperstickers might be a way to spread the word and at least serve as a catalyst or a starting point to bring about change. Unless you plan on moving or quiting your job 485 is only going to get much worse unless we can somehow rally as a group and force the state to take notice. The intent of this site is to provide a centralized framework for people to come together with ideas and suggestions and to make more noise than any individual - even a politician, can do on their own - maybe we get some press in the paper or one of the news channels and it forces NCDOT to take another look in order to avoid further scrutiny on their mess of an orgainization.

Can Mayor McCrory fix things if elected Governor? Our home page features a great article from WCNC... "The major equation of where roads go in North Carolina is pure politics." said the Mayor. But what's really required to fix the problem?

Or is the core problem North Carolina's or NCDOT's antiquated system that doesn't distingquish road dollars between rural and hurban areas. A bypass between 2 podunk towns was recently completed at a huge expense. I have nothing against podunk towns (I live in one) but usually there are easy ways to get from one podunk to another.

The expensive new roadway bypasses a paltry ONE THOUSAND People! (I'll find the story and link to it). ONE THOUSAND PEOPLE! oooh that was important. More than ONE HUNDERD THOUSAND people come to a screeching halt on 485 each day!

People who don't sit in that soup every day and that aren't sympathetic will say it's the development in Union County that's the problem and they will be partly right BUT... WTF did the DOT expect when they created that huge 2 lane off ramp from the major southern artery taking people away from the city and combined it with the northern ramp from 77 and then very close yet another busy on ramp and then almost immediately jam all those on-ramp lanes into 2 lanes - that's flat out stupid planning - "good tinkin" NCDOT.

Check out Mayor McCrory's website maybe with the right support he could make a difference.
